But, basically, we did a Very Fine Job raising these girls. Of course, it does help to have Quality Goods to begin with, and God certainly did send us the cream of His crop. Probably knew our talents and patience were limited, so He sent us the Best.
We never had any sons in our life....until we were presented with the finest two men who were brave enough to share their lives (and their names) with our high maintainence daughters. These men are Saints! And the ONLY qualification needed for that high esteem is that they are willing to love our daughters with total abandon and amazing patience.
I kept asking them, before they committed to the institution of marriage....."Are you SURE you want to Deal with all This for 60+ years?"
And, for Some reason, they looked at Bikeman, grinned real big, and said they figgered if HE could do it, they were certainly able to do it as well (Did I mention that, well....sometimes these girls will remind you of their mother....).
Now, the very Best thing about these boys is the fact that they love our daughters. Unfailingly and with great loyalty and lots of admiration and plenty of humor (you gotta have that in order to stay alive around these Bailey wimmen). They treat them with delicacy and with kindness and yet are willing to stand their ground when the times arise. Strong men. And brave!
However, beyond these amazing qualities, these guys are just plain wonderful. They are Godly, hardworking, intelligent, lovers of animals and children, and, oh, yeh....Quite Handsome.
There is one more thang about these boys that I have not mentioned, and that is, with all their wonderful qualities and beautiful characteristics, they are also Quite Stoopid. Idiots, actually. Or, as we say in the South...Not too brite...
They have both melded into this family (a family not very different from the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding), and have carved their niche into lives in ways that are just, well, undescribable. Bikeman and I are in love with these boys. And they love us, too. I think sometimes they believe that they may be looking at us and viewing their own futures...(did I mention that they were Brave?)
So....WHY, you ask, do I continue to call them Idiots?
Well, because these guys do not even have a tiny, etsy bitsy CLUE as to How Much we love them. How proud we are to call them Family.
Oh, yes, they know we love them, just not how much. They are just walking around this planet, oblivious to the huge amount of love and gratitude we splash on them every hour of every day. They think they are Ordinary Men, just doing what they were put here to do.....
Words cannot begin to express to them how much we love them...How every phone call from them, every visit, every email is precious and delightful...How we grin knowingly at each other when we speak of them. They are funny and loving and silly and, well, if I could, I'd just hug them and never stop.....Oh, okay, now I'm getting sorta sappy....boys'll DO that to ya, I have discovered....
It kinda reminds me of how God must feel about us....How Proud He is to have made us and to see us striving every day to be the people He wants us to be.....And we just plain do not even have a tiny, etsy bitsy CLUE as to How Much He loves us....How proud He is to call us His Family. We don't even consider ourselves unique and wonderful most of the time.
Sigh....I suppose that He would call us idiots, too, if He were not so, well, Godly.....
Perhaps one of the things that might just make God's day is if we DID acknowlege His love and admiration.....If we truly stopped and called Him up and told Him, "I DO know that You love me! I KNOW it! You love me just because I am. And then You get a kick out of me just because I am doing the stuff that You hoped I would do...."
God. Sons-in-law. Maybe formed out of the same cloth....

Awww... Momma! They really ARE great guys, aren't they? I am ESPECIALLY partial to the cute blonde boy in the glasses.... Thanks for loving our boys. Ya know, girls tend to choose men like their daddy..... maybe you had a little something to do with this....;-)
This is very sweet, Toni. Sounds like you have a special relationship with the fathers of your grand-babies.
